Spending a weekend in South Lake Tahoe this winter? Check out our weekend itinerary on what to do from the evening you arrive until the day you leave:
Arrival Day
After arriving and getting settled at your Lake Tahoe vacation rental, it’s time to start enjoying your mini vacation! Dinner is typically first on the agenda after coming into town. Take in a sunset while enjoying views of the lake and some upscale California cuisine at Riva Grill. Afterwords, head down to the casinos at Stateline to take in some of the nightlife, or if you’re bringing the whole family, enjoy some fun competition with games in one of the large casino arcades. Casinos not for you? Check out The Shops at Heavenly Village to listen to some live music, refreshments by a fire pit, or some ice skating!
First Day
For your first full day, start with a traditional and delicious hearty breakfast at one of the three south shore Red Hut Cafes to power you up for a day of Lake Tahoe adventures. Next, try some scenic snowshoeing right on the beach at the Historic Camp Richardson, followed by a lakefront lunch at The Beacon Bar & Grill. Looking for a more invigorating activity to get the blood pumping? Zephyr Cove Snowmobiling offers excursions near Spooner Summit, boasting spectacular lake views… and plenty of amazing photo opportunities! After some high-speed fun on the snow, enjoy a laid back lunch of traditional American fare in a mountain lodge setting at the Zephyr Cove Lodge Restaurant. And if you and your group still have some energy left for a night on the town, enjoy some downtown shows like a comedy show at Harvey’s or a magic show at The Loft. Too tired for nighttime activities? Spend a relaxing evening in with your friends and loved ones and enjoy your cozy vacation rental.
Day of Departure
Wake up and fuel up for the day with breakfast at home! All of our South Lake Tahoe cabin rentals come with fully equipped kitchen for you to whip up some culinary delights for the whole group during your stay. Avoid the rush of traffic leaving town, and get one more day out of your weekend adventure, by heading out for a fun day on the slopes! Sunday is a great day to carve some turns as the crowds are typically already heading off the mountain and on their way back home. For skiing and snowboarding, there are a few resorts to choose from in/around the south shore: Heavenly Ski Resort is located directly in South Lake Tahoe, Kirkwood is approximately 45 minutes away, and Sierra-at-Tahoe is located along Highway 50 near Echo Summit, on the way out of town towards Sacramento.
We hope this helps you and your group with planning the perfect Tahoe weekend getaway! Of course there are many more activities for visitors to enjoy in the Lake Tahoe area. Here at Buckingham, we are happy to assist our guests with our Concierge Services to recommend the various activities, restaurants, and services the south shore has to offer!
